After being ordained, I began my ministry in Kapuskasing. For those of you who don’t know where Kap is, get on the 400, follow it up until you find Hwy 11, then keep driving until the highway turns west, and right about there is Kapuskasing. It would take us about 12 hours to drive down to Toronto where our family lived. When you have 3 young children, and one of them is being potty trained, it makes for a very long, long drive. To help pass the time, we would play games. When the kids got older, we would watch to see how many different out of province license plates we could find, or work through the alphabet naming cities. But when they were younger, we would play a favourite game “I spy”, we had to limit it to things inside of the car, or that they could see for more than a 5 seconds as it whizzed by our windows.
It’s amazing how often things can be right in front of us, yet we fail to see them. For the next two weeks, we’re going to be looking at Encountering God in everyday life. He’s right there in front of us, and sometimes beside us as we go through our day. The trouble is, too often, we don’t see Him because we’re simply not looking for Him, while other times we have trouble finding Him because we don’t know what we’re looking for.
