Surprise!

Our Sermons

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I like surprises … like when I reach into my pocket and find a 20 bill I forgot I had, or when the Leafs win the Stanley Cup! But not all surprises are good surprises. It could be after your check up, the dentist says, “you need a root canal”, or when your nice low  mortgage rate comes up for renewal and the new rates go through the roof.
There are all kinds of surprises in life, but there is one thing for sure, you can’t surprise God! There are numerous examples of God surprising us … raising Lazarus from the dead, turning water into wine, parting of the Red Sea. God can always surprise us, but we can’t surprise God. To be surprised you have to be unaware of the future, but God sees the future, and He holds it in His hands. I find this reassuring, it means that the cross wasn’t a bandaid solution, it was all a part of a well thought out plan. So, no matter what we face, no matter what happens in life, we can trust that God knows what He will do … we can trust Him.
