Linda and I went to see “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” a couple of weeks ago. I grew up watching the “Mission Impossible” TV show, I loved watching it and each week, I couldn’t wait for the next episode to come out. I must confess I fell in love with the movie series starring Tom Cruise which first came out way back in 1996, and has continued for the last 29 years.
The Impossible Mission Force or IMF was made up of part time operatives who had ordinary full time jobs, but they each had special abilities or talents that made them invaluable to the team. They were called upon to carry out impossible sounding missions.
This got me thinking how much the church is like the IMF. We have been hand picked by God, He has called each of us by name, given us the equipment we need to carry out the task at hand, and He has even ensured that we have just the right abilities to carry out our assignment.
The church is a team and we are faced with missions that may seem impossible. God calls us to use our talents, our spiritual gifts to accomplish what He has laid out for us … should we decide to accept it.
