I don’t know about you, but sometimes life can be boring. Everyday you do the same old thing, nothing changes; nothing happens, just the same old drudgery of everyday life. We get up, have the same thing for breakfast, get in the car, follow the same route to work. We go through the same motions at work, eat the same thing for lunch, follow the same route home, eat supper, watch TV, go to bed … tomorrow starts the same way … and on and on it goes.
We’re not alone, it’s been like this down through time. I’m sure the disciples felt the same way … “nothing ever happens here in Galilee, you just follow in the footsteps of your family …” nothing changes.
We read about exciting things happening to other people … but not to us. Yet we find that the disciples encountered Jesus in their ordinary dull routine of cleaning their nets, we too can encounter Jesus in the ordinary, if we pay attention.
